The Horrible Hives

Okay. You know how in the last post I was talking about my hives? Well, they are worse than EVER! I have never in my life broken out in hives and I have no idea why I am now.

Have you ever wanted to itch your arms off? Scratch them till they bleed? Get a fork and use it to scratch and poke holes in your skin? No? Just me?

I have no idea where I got the hives from, in case you were wondering. It's very odd. The only thing I can think of is that I had half an orange right before I broke out in them. It's not the first time in my life I've had an orange though. I am notorious for getting strange ailments that baffle doctors.

So yesterday it was so bad that what did I decide to do? Go to the doctor, of course!! He gave me a prescription for the steroid prednizone and said it would clear up in 9 days. Only, there's a slight problem. I can't TAKE prednizone because I'm nursing. But he insisted I take the prescription anyway on the mere chance I'd like to pump and dump my milk and teach my baby who's never taken from a bottle before how to. Not only can I NOT take prednizone, I really don't WANT to. I have enough holiday weight gain. I don't need a steroid to aid things along.

So, he told me to keep doing what I've been doing. Gee thanks! Take antihistimines, use creams and hope it goes away. I think he felt bad that there was nothing he could do so he gave me a shot of epinephrine just to make me feel better. And it did... for about a whole 4 hours.

I'm hoping that the epi caused some sort of weight loss. I need a miracle.

Scratch Where It Itches. You Know the Rest.

Ever since it has started getting cold, I am supery dupery (as Levi would say) itchy. I've tried the following products shown below and nothing is working!!! It's mostly bad just at night and I scratch and scratch and scratch until one time I bled. The other day I scratched in the shower and when I looked at my legs afterward, it looked like I had been sunburned really bad; only in finger lines instead of one big red area. I beg and beg John to scratch my back. He does for a while, but it's just not scratching the itch, so to speak. I'm afraid that I'm going to scratch so much and so often that all my skin is going to fall off. If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them. And if you are a scratcher too then welcome to my world. Together we will conquer.
